We pretty much all love playing video games with our pals, and co-op is nothing new in this exciting world of gameplay, but Army of Two has taken co-op that little step further. And it's two steps for video gaming and many more steps for total mayhem and enjoyment!
In this highly explosive and sometimes strategic third person shooter, gameplay is focused on TWO man missions, TWO man strategies, TWO man tactics and a TWO man advantage.
You fight alongside your team-mate to become the deadliest two-man military outfit a government can buy.
From two man sniping to parachuting, players can experience action-packed scenarios where they have to use their strength, a deadly arsenal of shared customizable weapons and considerable wit to successfully defeat enemies and complete the mission at hand.
And because gamers will fight their way through war, turmoil and a conspiracy so vast it threatens the entire world, Army of Two has added some new ideas in the mix.
You can play online with friends and friends you've never met before; you can even customise your heroes, and explore and fight with the greatest freedom.
One of the best additions to the game is the picture-in-picture function. This is a smaller screen positioned at the top of the screen where you can see exactly what your mate is up to. Similar to Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, this offers a real connection to the action and in a game where you pretty much need to know your friend's whereabouts all the time, it's a gem of a feature.
The graphics are crisp and sharp as EA's Montreal studio have pulled out all the stops to deliver realistic characters and environmental effects, including fluid dynamics and High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting.
The single-player game in Army of Two works just fine as the intelligent partner AI (PAI) interacts, adapts, collaborates and learns from the human partner. The PAI also reacts and adjusts to the gamer's ability and how they play the game by taking the lead or following, driving strategy or taking orders. And it all works really well.
But nothing beats teaming up with others, be they friends or unknowns, and ultimately creating an advantage that no enemy can withstand.
When one man is not enough, it's going to take an army of two to save us. And what fun we and all our buddies can all have whilst doing it!
